Magikvanilla is a dedicated surf school in Ericeira (since 2013; accommodation sold in 2024) run by co-founders Steve and Susie. Coaching focuses on small ratios at Praia de São Julião, with beach transfers, gear and insurance included, and coaches certified by IPDJ and the Portuguese Surf Federation.

Lessons

  • Single sessions — up to 2 hours in water (about 3 hours end-to-end with pickup); theory, warm-up, safety brief and in-water practice; max 5 per instructor; gear, transfers and insurance included
  • Week surf course — 5 x 2-hour sessions over one week with video analysis; max 5 per instructor; gear, transfers and insurance included
  • Group booking — for larger parties; max 5 per instructor; 11th spot free or 10% off for groups of 11+
  • Kids surf weeks — ages 7–16; five mornings; groups capped at 10 with 2+ instructors; equipment, insurance and photo session included
